ANNUAL STATUS 2014 updated

District: Kavre
Period covered by this report: (January-December 2014) and with update after earthquake May 2015 with pictures and with report of microloans.  Sent to donor September 2015

VILLAGE  NP 55 –HALEDEGOUN
Was the Triangle procedure followed to have half the members in the village committee be women? Were there any deviations from the standard procedure? Yes, the village committee followed the Triangle procedure. The facilitator facilitated and encouraged the villagers to follow the procedure. There should still be more women included in the village committee.
How many people were present at the village meeting? 20 male, 13 female, total 33

What were the issues raised at the village meeting? Income generation activities (Vegetables farming, Goat farming Pig farming, sewing machine, cardamom farming), Uniform for band (dalits), Skill Training, health and sanitation, environmental issues, drinking water, irrigation plan.

What did the villagers decide to spend the funds on? The villagers decided to spend the granted Nrs. 90,000/- by investing Nrs .15,000/- microloan for vegetable farming, Nrs.60,000/- microloan for goat farming, Nrs.10,000/- path improvement and Nrs.5,000/- microloan for trading sewing machine.
Has the committee received the funds yet? The fund has been received.
 Activity plan

All planned activities were completed, which are described below:

Nrs.80,000 was invested in microloans for goat raising.

Who is responsible for the implementation? The committee, facilitators and villagers.
How were the beneficiaries selected?  After finishing the settlement level planning, The village committee l organized the meeting and made the decisions to distribute the money. Generally the villagers followed some indicators for the distribution of money which is indicated by LGCDP (Local Government Community Development Program):

  • The family with no or very little land.
    • Poor house condition.
    • Lack of food for whole year.
    • Labors for others for livelihood.
    • Unemployed family.
    • No guarantee for settlement, etc.
Did the villagers have any comments/questions for the Triangle? They are very happy that they getting for the first time Triangle support and they would like to thank the Triangle organization for its support, and they wish continuous help of the organization. And if they got the big amount of money fond they would like to use the fund for constructions of school buildings.

Reporting of Micro loan

Use of Microloan until 2014 Micro loan total collected from pay back of loans: Nrs 26000 (Nrs   26,000.00 from 2014)

  • 8 families got the microloan Nrs 60000 (8 persons*7500) and started the goat raising.
  • 2 families got the microloan Nrs 15000 (2 Persons*7500) and started vegetables farming.
  • 1 family got microloan nrs 5000.00 (1 person*5000.00) and started sewing and cutting.
Major Achievements from Previous Year
  • Villagers are happy because the committee has recognizes the use of micro loans and they have benefitted. The 8 families who got loan for goat raising and vegetables farming in 2014, they got a lot of benefits and extra money (Minimum Nrs 5000.00 to maximum Nrs 12,000.00) and spent it for the dress and books for their children, food and some clothes for the families. Now they have felt the improvement for their improved livelihood. Therefore, they would like to remember who supported the village.
Impact of Settlement level planning
  • Villagers have applied for 3 the projects from VDC and DDC, but almost the money went for earthquake support, so this time it was not possible to get support for the project application made by the village.

Village situation after earthquake and aftershock

All the houses are totally collapsed. The school building also cracked and it is difficult to teach inside the room.  Many livestock shed are cracked and damaged. People are requesting more shelter but the VDC distributed very few due to the budget limitation.
