Annual status 2014 and update after the earthquake May 2015 and on Microloan

District: Kavre
Period covered by this report: January-December 2014 sent to donor Sept. 2015

VILLAGE  NP 57 – MAKAIBARIGAUN
Was the Triangle procedure followed? Were there any deviations from the standard procedure? Yes, the village committee followed the Triangle procedure. The facilitator facilitated and encouraged the villagers to follow.
How many people were present at the village meeting? 12 male(s) / 15 female(s), Total 27 in the settlement level planning in October

What were the issues raised at the village meeting? Scholarship support to disabled people, financial support for physically disable people, commercial vegetable farming, path improvement from Makaibari to Duighare, goat farming commercial vegetable farming, Construction of community building, training for making washing soap, road improvement etc.
What did the villagers decide to spend the funds on?

The villagers decided to spend the granted Nrs. 90,000 by investing NRs.35,000/- on path improvement, NRs.30,000/- on microloan for goat farming, NRs.22,000/- on microloan for goat for commercial vegetable faring and NRs.3,000/- for

financial support for treatment for physically disabled.

Has the committee received the funds yet? Yes in December 2014, it was transferred
 Activity plan All planned activities were completed, which are described below:
Who is responsible for the implementation? The committee, facilitator and villagers.
How were the beneficiaries selected?  After finishing the settlement level planning, The village committee will organize the meeting and will make the decisions to distribute the money. Generally the villager followed some indicators for the distribution of money which is indicated by LGCDP(Local Government Community Development Program):

  • The family with no or very little land.
  • Poor house condition.
  • Lack of food for whole year.
  • Labors for others for livelihood.
  • Unemployed family.
  • No guarantee for settlement, etc.
Did the villagers have any comments/questions for the Triangle? They would like to thank the Triangle organization for its support, and they wish continuous help of the organization. And if they got the big amount of money fond they would like to use the fund for constructions of school buildings. good roads good community building, well drinking water etc.

  • All the activities were delayed because of delayed rain, local festival
  • All implementation of all activities is on-going. It is expected to be finalized soon.

Reporting of Micro loan

Use of Microloa2013 and 2014 Micro loan total collected from pay back of loans: Nrs 104000 (Nrs 52000 from Previous year and Nrs 52,000.00 from 2014)

  • 10 families got the microloan Nrs 60000 (10 persons*6000) and started the goat raising.
  • 4 families got the microloan Nrs 44000 (4 persons*11000) and started the commercial vegetables farming.
Major Achievements from Previous Year
  • The 8 families who got loan for goat raising and vegetables farming in 2013, they got a lot of benefits and extra money (Minimum Nrs 5000.00 to maximum Nrs 12,000.00) and spent it for the dress and books for their children, food and some clothes for the families. Now they have felt the improvement of their livelihood. Therefore, they would like to remember who support the village.
Impact of Settlement level planning
  • Villagers have applied for 3 projects from VDC and DDC and others, but almost all money went for earthquake support so this time it is not possible to support the village project proposals.
 

Village situation after earthquake and aftershock

All the houses are totally collapsed. The school building also cracked and it is difficult to teach inside the rooms.  Many livestock sheds are cracked and damaged. People are requesting more shelter, but the VDC distributed very few because of the limitation of resources.
