What did the villagers decide to spend the Triangle funds on?

The villagers decide to spend Nrs. 55,000 to the goat, pig, chicken and vegetables farming, Nrs 10,000 for women skill development for stools making, Nrs 10,000 for pond conservation and Nrs 5,000 for sustainable development approach training to the village members

VDC approved support in repairing of rural road (budget not fixed yet) submitted by settlement level.

Has the committee received theTriangle funds yet?

Yes in October 2013

Activity plan: When are the activities going to be implemented?

  • Successfully repaired the pond and used the fund Nrs 10,000 and other villagers gave personal contributions to the pond.
  • Stool making training to women for income generation from local materials Bamboos were successfully completed and 10 people got the practical knowledge and spent Nrs. 10,000.
  • 55,000 invested for micro loan to income generation.
  • 5,000 Still in account for the emergency fund.

Who is responsible for the implementation?

The village committee plays the vital role to implement all activities and after that, VDC Secretary and Triangle responsible person Hari support the implementing and and monitoring.

How were the beneficiaries selected?

After completing the settlement level planning the village committees’ member again organized the meeting and made the criteria to distribution of money. Generally the villager made some indicators for the distribution of money

  • the family with no or very little land, poor house condition, lack of food for whole year, Labors for others for livelihood, unemployed family, no guarantee for income etc.

Were there any disagreements – discussions about the priorities?

What was the role of the Triangle facilitator?

The villager’s perception was that the Triangle support was very low. After the settlement level planning training and exercise and facilitation from ASK that the money is for supporting system. Now villagers understood and spending in right way.

ASK cooperates and fully focused on the settlement level planning (SLP) process and explain that that the SLP is done through training from Triangle, which also included the engagement of communities to plan and apply for projects from the Village Development Committee. The villagers saw that the Triangle in partnership with ASK is supporting planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and reporting.

Did the villagers have any comments/questions for the Triangle?

Due to lack of awareness it was difficult to manage the money in the right way in previous year and because of some conflict of interest. But after villagers participated in SLP they developed trust and realized, fully agreed, and called it a realistic and participatory way of planning for the village. However, Triangle/ASK has to provide more technical support for the SLP.

Now they feel their livelihood is improving. Therefore, they would like to remember who support the village.
  • Those students who got the scholarship, their study was more effective and the teacher said they improved their study with better mark and position one student got the third position.
  • The women’ and children and the all villagers health situation improved because of improved smokeless stoves, the use of firewood is more economical and CO2 emission is less. Now they are happy and give many many thanks that support their village with new concept and now every Hhs have improved smokeless cook stove.
  • 2 pregnant women took the emergency fund and went to hospital to give the birth of their children so the villagers send thanks to donor because if there had been no emergency fund it was   really difficult to go to hospital and give the safe birth of child.
