Was the Triangle procedure followed in relation to the Settlement Level Planning?

Yes the villagers and the committee are followed the Triangle procedure. There were not any deviations.

22 men/43 women, there were 32 from Dalits

Drinking water, Wall Building, Income generation activities, women empowerment, Women Skill development etc.

What were the priorities presented during the Settlement Level Planning in October 2013?

What did the villagers decide to spend the funds on?

The villagers decide to spend Nrs. 30,000 to the Tomato and other Vegetables farming in Plastic tunnel house, Nrs 32,000 for Goat raising and Nrs 18,000 for small poultry farming from Triangle supported money.

Has the committee received the funds yet?

Yes (October) after completion of the settlement planning (Sep-Oct)

Activity plan: When are the activities going to be implemented?

All planned activities will be started after Nepalese festival of Dashain and Tihar, and completed in December 2013

Who is responsible for the implementation?

The Triangle village committee plays vital role in implementation of all activities. VDC Secretary, VDC hired social mobilizer and Triangle responsible person Hari also support to implement and monitor.

How were the beneficiaries selected?

After finishing the settlement level planning (SLP) the committee members again organized the meeting to distribute the resources for activities and for the income generation activities. They have made criterias themselves. Generally the villagers made some indicators for the distribution of money for income generation;

• the family who has no or very little land , poor condition of house , Lack of food security for whole year, Labors for livelihood for others, Landless people, Unemployed family, No guarantee for settlement, etc.

Were there any disagreements – discussions about the priorities?

What was the role of the Triangle facilitator?

Before the awareness and practice of the settlement level planning (SLP) Some of the villagers were raising issues such as: the money is very little and distribution also present some conflict of interest so it was difficult to fulfill the expectation of the villagers. Now after the SLP the facilitators from their own village, neighboring village facilitators and Hari explained about the resources and the supporting system available from Triangle and the villagers agreed and want to spend in the right way.

ASK specially cooperates and fully Focuses on the settlement level planning process with the engagement of communities, provided information of the Triangle and support to planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and reporting.

Did the villagers have any comments/questions for the Triangle?

In the previous year, due to lack of adequate awareness it was difficult to manage the money in the right way. Following villagers participation in settlement level planning (SLP) they have realized and fully agreed and are cooperating. But they need more technical knowledge for the settlement level planning. Triangle money is ok, but the villagers have doubt whether the VDC and DDC will support properly or not for this year.

1. Settlement level planning is completed.

2. All planned activities from Triangle Support; Tomato and Vegetables farming in plastic house, Goat rising and small poultry farming are being Implemented.

1. All the activities were delayed because of heavy rain, Local festival and the training of SLP. All activities implementation are on-going. It is expected to be finalized in December.

2. VDC is cooperating in the SLP process by assigning the social mobilize for training workshop and planning exercise at village level.
