Triangle supported money:

The villagers decide to spend Nrs. 55,000 to the goat, pig, chicken and vegetables farming, Nrs 10,000 for women skills development for stool and development approach training to the village members

Yes (October) after the settlement level planning (SLP) in Sep-Oct

Activity plan: When are the activities going to be implemented?

All planned activities will be started after Nepalese festival Dashain Tihar and will be finalized in December 2013

Who is responsible for the implementation?

The Triangle village committee plays vital role in implementing all activities. VDC Secretary, VDC hired social mobilizer and Triangle responsible person Hari also support in implementation and monitoring.

How were the beneficiaries selected?

After finished the settlement level planning, the committee’s members again organize the meeting to distribute the resource money for activities and for the income generation activities. They have developed criteria’s themselves. Generally the villagers made some indicators for the distribution of money for income generation;

  • the family who has no or very little land, poor physical condition of house, Lack of food security for whole year, Labors for livelihood for others, Landless people, Unemployed family, No guarantee for settlement, etc.

Were there any disagreements – discussions about the priorities?

What was the role of the Triangle facilitator?

Before the training of settlement level planning, due to lack of awareness, some villagers raised issues like the money is very little and there was difficulty in distribution due to conflict of interest, as a result, it was difficult to fulfill expectation of the villagers. Now efforts from the facilitators from their own village, neighboring village facilitators and ASK coordinator Hari’s explanation about the money and the supporting system from Triangle, the villagers agreed, cooperate and want to spend in right way.

ASK specially cooperated and fully focused on the settlement level planning process with the critical engagement of communities, provided information of the Triangle and supported in planning, implementation, monitoring, coordination and reporting.

Did the villagers have any comments/questions for the Triangle?

Due to lack of awareness it was difficult to manage the money in the right way in the previous year, but after villagers participated in settlement level planning (SLP) they realized and fully agreed and named it as a realistic and participatory process. But they need more technical knowledge for the settlement level planning. Triangle Money is ok but the villagers have doubt whether the VDC and DDC will support properly or not for this year.
